Village of the Damned by EvanCampbell Village of the Damned by EvanCampbell
Alien sculpture for a transformation scene never used in "John Carpenter's Village of the Damned".
This is a second stage head out of three that was sculpted.

Amaziny! I love the aliveness in his wicked expression. The forhead adn eye wrinkles are mind blowing and I love that front the front he looks fairly normal and the side shot so alien.

The eyes and brow lines are amazing. My last "Fantasy Head" sculpture I spent hours on and failed miserably. It was actually inspired by your STILL LIFE sculpture haha. But yeah... I've only been sculpting for about 3 months so I'm not that amazing... yet >:)

Don't worry about failing..I have failed thousands of times but things start working out after awhile.
Just keep trying and have fun while you do it... 3 months is to early to be critical of yourself. As far as the eyes and brow lines it took time and lots of reworking but thank you.

To be honest the first reason I created a deviantart account was to be able to see your work ! You're definatly one of the greatest sculptor I've ever seen ( and believe me I've seen more than you can imagine !). You're sculpting level is my goal, but I must be working fulltime for 10 years before reaching it......
anyway keep it up dude !

I really don't know what to say about your compliment. I'm very flattered!
I have worked with many artists who are better sculptors. The fact that you like
my work is wonderful to me and you can definitely reach and surpass my level.

My comments are simply honests. I agree with you when you said that there are better sculptors than you. But come on ! I've seen on your website your very early works as a kid..... That was simply amazing! And when I see your last personnal work, there is no doubt : you're not just a monstermaker, you're an artist ( a gifted one ). Actually even if you're not the best sculptor on earth ( or not yet ), to be able to develop my skills to you're level will be enough for me. ( We will talk about it in 4 or 5 years.... )
Hope that my enthousiasm doesn't make you feel too inconfortable.
keep improving you're sculptures.
All best.

PS: forgive my damned english!

The detail in both is awesome!
And I also love how the two sculptures are different, but also very coherent, in a way that you can tell it's a transformation and not just "two different creatures".
I have two questions:
What is the media you used here? When you work on a sculpture for a movie, who keeps the sculture in the end? It becomes property of the producer, or it's yours anyway?

Thanks very much! I had left out a middle stage between the two...never got a photo. This sculpture was made with a standard modeling clay (Roma Plastaline) found in most art supply stores. Unless you are in charge of the special effects it usually is kept by the studio you are working for.
