Artist's Comments

This is a Roma Plastilina clay sculpture. The head will be molded and eventually turned into a latex mask. It will be painted and have hair glued onto it, as well as realistic dental acrylic teeth added. The raised skin texture (moles and goose pimples) on the sculpture were made by diluting a bit of clay with rubbing alcohol and creating a slush like mix. You can then dip a thin stick into the mixture an tap the little beads of liquid clay onto the surface. Once dried it takes on a very natural look.

I also do sculpture for the film industry.

man I love this guy.
Is it a personal project or do you plan to do the May show in Burbank?
:iconevancampbell:
Hey that is so cool of you to say...this is just a fun personal work.
:iconthegorer:
excellent work! you nailed it.

I see what you mean about the photographic quality and I agree, the way you've lit the piece really enhances the shadows around areas like the mouth, eyes, ears and the folds of skin. It also enhances and pulls out the skin detail in the piece.

Great work, I really like the spooky realism you have with this piece, combined with the expression it really suits it well.

Thank you for the great message...yeah it really does fit the medium of the internet. I feel the same about digital paintings - they look so damn good online...I don't know how a print would look?
:iconthebuild:
Not a problem, As for prints it definitely looks print worthy, you could give it a try, I've never tried prints yet myself but I couldn't hurt if you want to go for it.

haha he's very... warty LOL Awesome sculpt and good tip too! I was wandering about the hair that you'll put on the mask after it's done... you said glued on, and for some reason I've always imagined them being pierced into the mask - what's the reality? [sorry I'm an ignoramus when it comes to this]
