Little note wip by EvanCampbell Little note wip by EvanCampbell
Since I do not draw, I like to do these clay sketches...many times I do not finish these sculptures. Proportions a bit funny but it is early into it...kind of like the look so far.

Little old women are normally disproportionate, so you can use that as an excuse. It really is beautiful though, and so sweet. I already love what detail you do have going on, like the flowiness in her robe. Bravo!

What a beautiful moment you have captured.
Also, why don't you draw? You'd be so good, you already understand form better than almost everyone else out there.
How big are these clay sketches typically?

This reminds me of when my grandma would always try and read me old Italian letters to teach me Italian.
I remember she would then go on about how she came to America and why. How she got the family to safety. She would cry when she got to her youngest brother who died alone in Italy with TB.

This looks like her.

Thank you for posting this.

"Clay sketches," that's fantastic. :D This is wonderful; I love seeing how artists get on in other mediums, especially those which I'm not that great at. It's amazing.....I was going to say something else, make more sense, but I forgot what it was......><

I love the pathos that the face shows. I see a wistful longing for something symbolized by the photo.

Awesome "sketch".

I think the only proportions that might be off are her forearms and shins. But I love the rest of this. The picture on the left looks like full-sized statue :)

Never thought about doing 3D sketches rather than drawing (I suck majorly at drawing).

I quite like the piece, especially the strong lines in the clay, it gives it a lot of character.

Seeing this, more people who are only sketching with pencil or software should do actual clay sketches. It helps so to get a real feeling for room, proportions and perspective!

That's so neat, that you do sculpting sketches. Is this from a movie? (Can't remember what movie this reminds me of.)
