Little old women are normally disproportionate, so you can use that as an excuse. It really is beautiful though, and so sweet. I already love what detail you do have going on, like the flowiness in her robe. Bravo!
What a beautiful moment you have captured. Also, why don't you draw? You'd be so good, you already understand form better than almost everyone else out there. How big are these clay sketches typically?
This reminds me of when my grandma would always try and read me old Italian letters to teach me Italian. I remember she would then go on about how she came to America and why. How she got the family to safety. She would cry when she got to her youngest brother who died alone in Italy with TB.
