These are two fake bodies that I worked on for the movie "Citizen X". The film tells the story of serial killer Andrei Chikatilo.

Other sculptures from that film:

Serial killers think as much of their victims as an abattoir worker does of a cow. "Beautiful" is rarely a word in their vocabulary.

i dunno... some of them seem to think they are making 'art' or purifying themselves or the victims... I guess it depends wholly on the particular brand fo crasy they use.

You're thinking of movie serial killers. This does not happen in real life.

In real life serial murder can be considered an extreme form of paraphilia wherein predatory behavior becomes a sexual act (such as piquerism, in which one gains sexual gratification through stabbing another person).

Serial killers cannot glorify or justify their crimes because as sociopaths they don't feel much about it (on a CT scan their amygdala has been shown not to function, they are in effect emotionally dead).

That's... really interesting! Wow. I wonder how many people are only a breath away from flipping over. I know I experience times when I'd just like to stab someone....

I wonder if this emotional deadening is something that happens from experiences or is something congenital? I've heard of a supposed theory that some people are genetically more predisposed, but then that others can be traumatised into... going that way.

It's been said that one in twenty human beings are born sociopaths (I personally believe they're rarer than that having met so few). It takes a certain number of circumstantial factors for them to become psychopaths which is why serial murder is so rare... Mostly they gravitate to politics or business and other positions of power.

The "one bad day" scenario as laid out by Alan Moore to provide Batman's meta-sociopath The Joker with an origin is entertaining but (typical for Moore) psycholigically off-base. The Joker, like all sociopaths, was never born a human being. Sociopaths are their own kind of creed, a run-off from chimps whose violence still scrapes around in their skulls.
The Joker as a representation of the psychotic mind is more a socio-psychological symbolic one in that his goal is to turn the whole world into sociopaths. The irony and humor in his will to prove that (which is consistently disproven) states more about the callous, selfish nature of real evil than any fictional antagonist ever has.

Sociopaths don't have much regard for the welfare of others because they were born with freak brains.

So they are, infact, a different 'breed' so to speak, from people who 'care' about others... This is extremely interesting! And worrying, since, as you say, if they're not murdering people they are it would seem running things due to their gravitation to powerful positions :/

This is particularly interesting since I've had my own scrapes with certain behaviours that I've been presented with the circumstances for, and in retrospect wonder why I did and did not do certain kinds of things, given the chance and motivation for them. The things I did succumb to made me later feel less certain of my own moral bulletproofness, and yet the things I had motive and means for but DID NOT do, make me consider others who DO as some foreign sort of monster. There are things I know I could not, infact, do. And things I now know I could, though it shames me. Seeing the varying strata of this in others is an amazingly wierd observation, and in some ways alienating. Even as I get older, seeing how some of my values shift in rigidity, due to perspective or considering possible factors that would make otherwise impossible behaviours possible, out of neccessity or survival. Where, exactly, I wonder... is the line?

I know, when I've gone further than I thought I would, into realms I'm uncomfortable with, that it plagues me for years, to the point where I have to somehow make amends or seek forgiveness somehow, or get councelling. To be able to do those things, and sleep fine at night seems... alien.

I love the movie and realism it shows, although I live in Russia and some details of the movie is totally unbelievable (like costumes, dialogs etc), but the cast and performance is incredible... and the bodies! I've never seen anything like that before, so truthful and scary!
Can't remember those two in a movie, sad... Thank you!

The bottom body is so beautiful in a morbid, innocent way. She reminds me of someone from the artwork of `BlueBlack perhaps. I love that this is black and white, too; it adds so much to the eerie feel.

Congrats on your daily deviation. All of your work is fantastic, but this is my favorite.
