Since I have been getting notes for more Bio information early on, I thought I would put this up here. Made this originally for my own website...some photos I have uploaded here but others are unseen very early sculptures.
Incredible story, how old are you now? I picked up my first block of clay at age 13 and found the world you did. [link] This was one of my first, I just want you to know you're work is the best detail I've ever seen...
I envy you so much. Wish I would have bin able to do tows things when I were a kid, back then I hardly knew anything about these things. When I was 12 I first notice that you actually can make movies yourself, and back then the effects I manage to do were a bloody shirt or a guy being thrown out from the third floor... but to make your own masks were still just a dream until i were 28!
I also did alot of the bloody shirt things too . Thanks for writing...I think the fact that I got into a shop very early and was able to see advanced techniques was a huge help. Kind of just luck - appreciate you stopping by and sharing!
I'm hoping that my son will get the same interest as me and my fiancÚ in these things,if so, he might become a real master like you one day ! By the way, if you can I would appreciate if you would take a look on a thing I'm working on right now (I'm far from good at it) and maybe give me some helpful hints!? [link]
Thanks for sharing I was also quite ambitious from early on but too enthousiastic, uncritical, unpatient, unfocused.. I think ive only quite recently started being focused and artisticly insightful (critical), a bit like you seem there at age ten. I like In the Mouth of Madness.
You still haven't explained the part where you became AWESOME!! How does that work?? You're a kid, sculpting away, and suddenly you're AWESOME! Or was it slower - did you just develop AWESOME and wake up one day and look at some of your work and go "holy SHIT!? what the HELL! That's AWESOME!"
funny thing is when I was older I stayed at a certain level for such a long time where I have seem others make incredible progress in a much shorter period of time. So kind of a mixed bag in how we all develop our talent. I guess it not so much when you start, but how much hard focus and attention you put into it. I feel I have only in the last few years made more progress with what I am trying to do with my work
Your story is incredible! I can't even get over how amazing your sculptures are-they're so detailed...and some of the creepier ones are actually kind of beautiful because of the detail work. I absolutely love it!
Excellent it's interesting to me how many in the business got started really young and knew what they wanted to do when most kids their age were still cringing when they saw a kiss on TV. I love the recommendation by Dick Smith, he's such a great man. Years ago when my shop burned down, he found out thru the grapevine and had a complete copy of his course put together and sent to me just to try and help out. All those formulas and resources would have been hard to do without. I've thought about this being the tail-end of that era too... very lucky indeed.
Ye...but other people thinks i'm a freak when I "stare" at everything xD pff...I study
Or they think I'm weird/childish cause I'm 19 and I like to draw...They ruined my sketchbook for fun...-_- Well...they USED to think like that...but then I got better...now they're getting impressed^_^
